The end of one year and the beginning of a new year is always an exciting and promising time in the PR industry. With new targets and new projects lined up, optimism is high for a productive year ahead.
Now is a great time to reflect on the accomplishments and achievements of the past, but it is also important to focus on new goals and objectives for the coming year; to go above and beyond – and beyond again.
To quote the German philosopher, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, “Whatever you do or dream you can do – begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it.”
So, with this is mind, here are our top PR resolutions to go above and beyond this year.
1) Be more sociable online and in-person – Digital and social media is at the heart of everything we do. And in 2014 it’s only going to get bigger with blogging and Google Plus taking more of a central role. To really make the most of social media, it is important to share content with the right people and engage and respond to users on a deeper level.
2) Explore other social media platforms – There is a vast array of social media platforms available, aside from Facebook and Twitter. Find out which social networks your target audience are using and join them.
3) Target journalists better – Did you know that PR pros outnumber journalists 4 to 1? Well, if not, the lesson here is simple. It means that our article pitches really have to stand out. Also, media lists have to be as targeted as possible to ensure that you are only giving reporters stories with direct relevance.
2014 is going to be an exciting year with lots of new opportunities and new media so it is vital to make sure you embrace all the potential of the year ahead.
