Work experience… seems a bit daunting to step out of the class room and into the wonderful world of work, even if it is for a brief amount of time, it’s another process of life. You’re taken out of your daily routine and put into a completely new one, but in this one instead of having your time managed for you, you manage your own. Here at Clareville Communications I find myself in a busy, vibrant and exciting media industry where I’ve been encouraged to complete tasks I’ve never completed before such as making phone calls, using an online database and writing a press release. It’s completely different to sitting in a class room being taught by a teacher and I’ve absolutely loved it.
As a person I thoroughly enjoy challenges and working independently, however at the same time I really enjoy working as part of a team so being here at Clareville Communications gave me the chance to take part in something that is best suited for me. I have learnt so much from working at Clareville Communications and it has been a remarkable experience. I began work experience this week with very little knowledge about PR however I am leaving with a greater understanding of public relations and a further insight into the world of work. From my first day everyone working here has kindly welcomed me and involved me in their work, but if I were to be honest; before starting my week’s work experience I was frightened and nervous about not liking it and feared not being able to fit in. I couldn’t have been anymore wrong and looking back on it now, it seems completely absurd.
Each day brings with it new and different challenges; I’ve left the office every day feeling a sense of achievement. Work experience has been both fun and highly valuable and I’ve enjoyed this experience to a great extent. Working here has allowed me to consider my future career plans in PR and I would like to thank Clareville Communications for such a wonderful time and for generously giving me this experience.
