Just another positive piece I’ve discovered about coupons in the media recently.http://moneyfacts.co.uk/news/vouchers/the-rise-of-the-savvy-shopper/ Why is this? Well there’s a strong indication that consumers love coupons!
The number of coupons redeemed in the UK was 365 million in the first half of 2014, according to findings released by the UK’s coupon experts. Shocked? This take-off in coupons is likely to be all down to a shift in shoppers’ behaviour brought on by the recession. It seems the downturn has changed our shopping habits forever.
The recession saw many people incorporate coupon hunting into their shopping behaviour and these coupon hunting habits are even increasing post recession with more and more bargain hunters looking for money off when shopping.
According to Charles D’Oyly, managing director of Valassis Limited: “Many supermarket shopping trips are now driven by savings behaviour, and coupons form a key part of this with consumers searching for the best discounts before they set foot in store. This often means that supermarket choice is determined by the most attractive and relevant offers.”
Many consumers now expect to have money off when shopping and are increasingly reluctant to pay full price for items.
This rise in coupon use looks set to continue throughout the rest of the year with digital and mobile coupons playing a larger part than ever before. So it seems coupons fever is here to stay!
